Introduction

Here we focus on the concept of Sapta-dhātavaḥ (seven tissues) in Ayurveda. We will also understand the seven tissues, their formation, and their importance in maintaining health.

The Seven Tissues

The human body is composed of seven tissues:

  1. Rasa (plasma)
  2. Rakta (blood)
  3. Mamsa (muscle)
  4. Medas (fat)
  5. Asthi (bone)
  6. Majja (bone marrow)
  7. Shukra (semen)

Formation of Tissues

The formation of tissues is a sequential process. When food is consumed, agni (digestive fire) transforms it into rasa (plasma), which is then converted into rakta (blood), and so on. Each tissue nourishes the next, ultimately leading to the formation of shukra (semen).

Importance of Balanced Tissues

Maintaining a balance of the seven tissues is crucial for health. An imbalance can lead to various diseases.

Conclusion

Understanding the concept of Sapta-dhātavaḥ is fundamental to Ayurveda. Maintaining their balance through proper diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies is essential for health and well-being.
